The Survey Process in the Age of Person-Centered Care

Aligning Regulation with Resident Preference

 Hyatt Regency Bellevue
 Sunday, August 11
10:00 am – 3:00 pm, Lunch is included

A Session Exclusively For Surveyors, By Surveyors

Join with CMS and state leadership for this full day pre-conference session to explore how best to navigate the intersection of survey processes and person-centered values. Autonomy and choice are increasingly recognized as an integral part of quality of life. As such, surveyors frequently are challenged to align existing regulations and interpretative guidelines with those values. This session represents a unique opportunity to explore how the survey process can support a changing culture of long term care. This session, exclusively for surveyors, has been designed by surveyors, with input from providers. Surveyors will be exposed to real survey scenarios and solutions such as, the difference between information transfer and consulting, the New Dining Practice Standards and the current research and standards of practice regarding the elimination of personal alarms. Participants will hear guidance directly from state and CMS leadership and will hear about examples of how providers and surveyors have created positive relationships.
